Coleman Send Packing By UFC

Not too long ago, Mark Coleman headlined UFC 109 facing Randy Couture. Several days later, he’s apparently no longer good enough to remain in the UFC at all. On Wednesday, following a lopsided loss to Couture the UFC released Coleman from his contract and cut the veteran heavyweight. Coleman is now free to sign with any other promotion, but at 46 years of age his most likely-and most advisable-course of action is retirement. Retirement is a tough thing for any pro athlete to swallow, however, and fighters in particular have had difficulty in ending their career gracefully. Continue reading

Big Names Missing From NBA All Star Game

The NBA All Star game was played without a couple of high profile participants this year as the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant and Philadelphia 76ers’ Allen Iverson would not play due to injury. Kobe and ‘AI’ were the latest in a string of injuries to All Star players that also claimed Portland’s Brandon Roy and New Orleans’ Chris Paul. The NBA has been much more strict about missing the All Star game after many players would come up with illusory ‘injuries’ right before the game that miraculously healed before play resumed after the break. Pro Football Flashback: Favre Leads Minnesota To Rout Of Cowboys

When legendary quarterback Brett Favre announced his return to the NFL from what has become a seemingly annual flirtation with retirement, many second guessed the Minnesota Vikings’ decision to sign “The Gunslinger”. On Sunday, Favre and the Vikings answered those critics in the best way possible-with a lopsided 34-3 beatdown of the Dallas Cowboys. Favre threw 4 touchdown passes in the victory and the Vikings’ defense sacked Dallas QB Tony Romo six times in the blowout. Continue reading

How to Cut a Cigar Properly

One of the mistakes that many people make when they begin smoking cigars is cutting those cigars improperly. For those who haven’t been around the cigar culture for any length of time, this can be a confusing process. Many people try the old “bite and spit” method of getting their cigars ready. They will actually bite the end off the cigar and then spit the end onto the ground, their hand, or the ashtray. Not only is this considered rude in most circles, there is a good chance that you will ruin your cigar when you do this. You need to cut the cigar correctly, and the best way to do this is with a proper cutter or a torch cigar lighter and cutter combo. Continue reading

Smoking a Cigar Halfway: Smart or Wasteful?

When people debate the question of whether or not a cigar should be smoked fully or just halfway, they’re really debating whether or not there is something inherently bad about a half-smoked cigar. Whether or not a cigar is bad or good depends upon the tobacco and the wrap, not upon how much of it has been smoked. Continue reading

MMA Flashback: Shinya Aoki Tops JZ Calvan

After a controversial no contest in their first matchup, there was no doubt as to the winner of the DREAM 2 rematch between Shina Aoki and JZ Calvan. Aoki controlled the fight from the opening bell and used a wide repertoire of submission attempts to keep his opponent off balance. Most impressive was Aokis dominance of the ground game, which many observers considered to be JZs edge in the contest. Continue reading

Lighting a Cigar

Enjoying a cigar is definitely among the finer things in life. There are some specific techniques involved in lighting-up that ensure that the cigar is enjoyed to its fullest. A Gay Holidays Guide For Morocco

Morocco is a popular tourist destination in northwestern Africa and provides wonderful gay travel. This is a land of rich history, deeply entrenched culture, legend and myth. Well-known as a setting for books, play and movies, this desert nation offers visitors the opportunity to explore ancient ruins, traipse across the desert on a camel, stay in a hotel made of sand and bargain with insistent rug and spice traders in old-world open air marketplaces. In many cities and towns traditional homes have been converted into guest lodgings, called riads, which often provide for a more welcoming environment for folks on a gay vacation and allow visitors to experience Moroccan life and culture up close. Morocco is a conservative Muslim country and has no scene to speak of; however other reasons to include this exotic land in your gay travel ideas are abundant, including beautiful beaches, exceptional architecture, expansive desert landscapes and the chance to meander through souks (markets) that twist and turn through narrow village streets.
